Silver Birches Sheltering Tulips

£35.00

Unframed limited edition signed and numbered lino print

Print area 214 x 154mm. Print run 19. Printed on Winsor and Newton smooth cartridge paper 150gsm

This is a really popular print and it has an amusing story behind it. Most local people correctly guess that these are the silver birches at Anglesey Abbey. When I visited I fell in love with them and decided to make a print. I wanted to find out where tulips originated from and the internet told me Kazakhstan (so it must be true!) and then I googled Anglesey Abbey to get some more info. Only to find out that the squirrels had eaten all the tulips! Don’t ask me why but I then did a search linking Kazakhstan and squirrels - and found an image of a 12 metre high squirrel sculpture errected in Almaty. See it for yourself! Well the weird connection was too good to ignore - so the pattern in the sky is my cultural link to Kazakhstan and the shapes in the green are very stylised squirrel footprints. Well it makes me smile…

Due to the nature of hand printing there will be some minor differences between prints.
